Report on HHhH

by Laurent Binet

A good discussion last night as we wade into parallel tomes. The challenges of summer schedule left us with a stalwart 4, but goodly discussion around HHhH which was well received by all, but for rather diverse reasons. A good experiment but a particular way of presenting a historical event that we probably wouldn’t enjoy were it to become the norm. A worthy historical event to engage with and I think all came away from the experience of enjoying it wiser. As to the first foray in Ulysses…some reactions stronger than others…we persevere with Feargal’s sage observation that we are being prepared for better things to come.

Thanks, Lawrence for your participation through the worthy proxy of Joe. Hope that we may see you in September … not that we *blame* the beast on you 😉

We also agreed that we would move to Episode 2 of Ulysses – Nestor and the book chosen to read is Canada by Richard Ford (well acclaimed by the reviewers – we’ll see how we find it.
