Friends and Colleagues

Springmead Bed and Breakfast
My parents run the most wonderful bed and breakfast in the world in Goldstone, Ontario. Check out the website, where you can at least virtually appreciate the beauty of Springmead.

Studying Rural History at the University of Guelph
This is another site with which I continue to be involved. Dr. Doug McCalla and I built this site during the summer of 2004 to further the presence the activities of academics at the University of Guelph working in the area of Rural History. Josh MacFadyen is now the webmaster of the site and guides its evolution along with Doug.

Josh MacFadyen's Site
Josh's site presents his papers and findings related to the study of the flax commodity in Canada during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Also check out the proud daddy's pride and joy.

History Sites

The Napoleonic Tourist
HyperTects latest project involves the production of historically-themed tours. This site demonstrates an initial prototype that provides self-guided tour material on Napoleonic battlefields as well as background materials on the Napoleonic Empire and the man himself. Check it out.

Text Analysis Portal for Research (TAPoR)
The TAPoR Portal is an online environment where users can:
* Keep track of texts they want to study. These texts can be on the web or texts you upload.
* Learn about different tools and try them.
* Run tools on texts to analyze them in different ways.
The Portal also has a news service and other features to support your research.

Writing Sites Online
Here a select number of sites that provide valuable information on writing academic or history papers in particular.

The Canadian Network for Economic History
The CNEH is an affiliation of academics and interested persons who study Canadian Economic History in a variety of forms. Dr. Kris Inwood maintains a mailing list in support of the network. There are also organized conferences every eighteen months at which members gather. The latest meeting took place at Queen's University in May 2005.

My Other Sites

Shawn @ the University of Guelph
This is my MA site and deals with my research for that project and a variety of other involvements at the U of G. Thanks to Kris Inwood for allowing me to keep this one running.

Randomosity
This is my blog. I have been playing with the concept lately and it seems to be sticking, so if you are curious, pop on over. Its a rather ecclectic collection of random thoughts and things that amuse me.

My Photographs
I have most recently started to put some more of my choicest pics online at the shawnday server. The interface is in flux, but not a bad looking spot right now.
