Voter Participation Rates across the EU 2004-2014

Just for simples, a quick plot of voter turnout according to the EU Parliament over the past three elections by country. Note (and important) voting in EU elections is compulsory in Belgium, Luxemburg, Greece and Cyrus (and even then whoa Cyprus – what’s that say??). Interesting for what’s in the aggregate numbers. Interesting to see where involvement is increasing (Germany, France, Lithuania and Sweden). As well as considering where EU elections are held solo and not in conjunction with local elections. Yopu may want to click on the values tab at the root of the chart to sort by rates.

Quick a dirty visualisation via Many-Eyes with data from the EU Parliament and from the Guardian.
