Duke Wilhelm V of Bavaria constructed this palace so that he could abdicate and retire comfortably to a country estate. Quite a country estate. Schloss Schlessheim impressed me with the sheer magnitude of the rooms, their emptiness simply increased their sense of vastness. The floors had some of the widest finest planks that I have ever seen. Much of the palace is still being reconstructed and renovated from war damage.

Inside the palace I found another palace. It's much like one of those russian babushka dolls.
