My pictures from the Residenz were a bit of a disappointment. Most turned out, but since I couldn't use a flash, and there seemed to be some focus problem (in my defense, the camera is self-focusing) the only one I am posting shows the crown jewels of Bavaria.
The Residenz in the main palace of the rulers of Bavaria and is right in the centre of Munich. Well, actually, just behind Marienplatz, on the Maxmilianstrasse and the Odeonsplatz. The gardens of the Residenz were at the foot of the street my hotel was on and covered several city blocks.
The various parts of the palace had been constructed over hundreds of years and was largely destroyed in the Second World War. It was been lovingly and faithfully restored to its splendor. Truly breathtaking. You can walk through the various wings of the palace and be struck by the great dissimilarity between the various stages of construction.
The palace also contains the treasury, where I took this picture, which contains one of the finest collections of jewelry and regalia in the world.
