The Deutsches Museum was one of the site that drew me back to Munich. Mike Farrell took me to visit it in 1991 and we only scratched the surface of one of the world's largest technology museums. We did get a weissewurst which is the veal sausage that Munich seems to be known for. I did reprise my experience on this visit.

The museum is situated on an island in the middle of the Isar river. The museum is enormous and could easily occupy a few days of exploring. In fact, I was back a couple of times. What makes a museum, well they do have two U-boats in the basement, jet airplanes in the mezzanine and what I thought best typified a museum of technology, this demonstration of how a village in Italy used oxen to power their civic efforts.
